One of the goals of the English in the War of 1812 was to retake the United States as part of the English empire, and this threatened the rights of all American landholders.

Explanation:

The English had harassed the United States since the end of the American Revolution. They did not respect us and thought we would be too weak to defend ourselves in the community of strong European nations. During the War of 1812, they attacked us not just along the east coast of this country but in the new west we had settled, from Canada and from New Orleans. The War of 1812 was part of a larger European war between England and France. Both wars ended ended with the defeat of the French leader Napoleon in 1815.
