Would it be possible to enhance the search facility to find answers within subjects, with particular participants, etc.?

For example, I would like to find an answer I made to a question concerning the inverse of #x^5+x^3+x#. It would be very useful to be able to at least search within my own answers.

Yes, it would be possible.

Explanation:

However, that is probably not going to happen anytime soon.

The development of the Socratic app is the team's main focus at the moment and has been that way for almost a year now.

They're putting everything they've got into the app project, which basically means that any major improvement to the site will have to take the backseat, at least for now.

That said, I can confirm that improving the search feature is on the team's radar, along with adding the possibility of searching within one's own answers, either by keywords or by subject / topic.

So it is very likely that the search feature will be improved sometime in the future, but until then, we have to make the best of what we have available right now.

Now, I searched for that question you mentioned and found two versions

As it turns out, you posted answers to both versions of the question. One was answered about a year ago and the other about a month ago.

I merged the two questions so that they both redirect to

How do you find the inverse of #x^5 + x^3 + x# ?

Let me know if you want me to remove one of those two answers, I can do that if needed.

Also, some tips on using the search feature. In my experience, I've found that you can make the search more efficient if you

  • don't add hashtags for the math part

In this case, I went with x^5 + x^3 + x for the math part, not with #x^5 + x^3 + x#

  • include words, not just math

I used inverse to go with the math part. I tried going with x^5 + x^3 + x, but that search didn't return the proper results
