P = Parenthesis (brackets)
E = Exponents
M = Multiply
D = Divide
A = Addition
S = Subtraction

Solve inside Parenthesis, then do Exponents, Multiply and Divide before you Add and Subtract.

A sample problem may look like this.

Following the order of operations

Parenthesis first

Exponents next
