When the time rate of change of velocity of a particle (or a system of particles) is a constant, it is then said to undergo uniform acceleration.

Since velocity is a vector, either a change in magnitude or direction causes a change in it.

Instantaneously, acceleration is given by #a = (dv)/(dt)# . This, however stands for non-uniform acceleration as well.
