The answer will be
$x = 3$

First, we will take the $-1$ to the RHS. As it is negative, sending to RHS will make it positive. Therefore

$3x = 8 + 1$
$3x = 9$

Now we will send $3$ to the RHS. As $3$ is the multiple of $x$ , sending it to RHS will make it a divisor.

$x = 9/3$

Hence

$x = 3$
