Collision theory states reacting particles can form products when they collide with each other with sufficent kinetic energy and in the correct orientation.

Explanation:

Particles that lack kinetic energy will collide, but it will most likely just bounce off one another, we call this an ineffective collision .

At a higher temperature, the particles have a higher kinetic energy making their collisions more frequent, therefore increasing the chances of a successful collision. This speeds up the reaction rate as well.
