The solutions are:

Explanation:

#color(green)((x+2)(x-1) = 0#, is the factorised form of the equation
#x^2+x-2=0#

Whenever we have factors of an equation we need to equate each of the factors with zero to find the solutions:

So,
#x+2 = 0 , x=-2#
#x-1 = 0, x=1#

So the solutions are:
#color(green)(x=-2, x=1#
