Generally, rabbits and their close relatives belong to the Leporidae family.

Explanation:

Many species of mammals are usually called "rabbits". All these species belong to the Animalia kindom, the Chordata phyllum, Vertebrata subphylum, Mammalia class, and Lagomorpha order (in which we have rabbits, hares and pikas) and, at last, Leporidae (rabbits and hares). Specifically, "rabbit" is a name applied for 8 different genera: Pentalagus, Sylvivagus, Brachylagus, Bunolagus, Nesolagus, Romerolagus, Oryctolagus and Poelagus. The most common species, the european rabbit, is called Orictolagus cuniculus.
