Hemoglobin is a protein in red-blood cells.
Explanation:
It is important as about 99% of oxygen that reaches the cell is carried through hemoglobin.
During respiration, we take in oxygen which are then transported into the bloodstream through hemoglobin. Hence, hemoglobin is said to be a transporter of oxygen in our body.
The hemoglobin also carries 23% of carbon dioxide for exhalation while our body fluids carries the rest of the carbon dioxide.
