Explanation:

Say you have three choice A,B and C
You have 3 possible COMBINATIONS
AB
AC
BC
But with PERMUTATIONS the order is significant
AB but also BA
AC CA
BC CB
6 possibilities. You can shortcut this by doing 3P2 on a calculator. The formula would be # (3!)/((3-2)!)#

You are then multiplying this by 5, this would be 5x6 = 30
