With the speed of light being known together with the predicted distance of the Sun from its relative orbit it would be possible to estimate the distance.

Explanation:

We should also acknowledge that with spacecraft having been sent out into space more accurate positions would be known to astronomers based on reception of radio signals from these vehicles.
