The stomach

Explanation:

First the breakdown of food happens in the mouth when we chew and tear our meals and the mouth secretes saliva which helps with the breakdown of food. The food(bolus) is then travelling down the oesophagus(long tube to the stomach) the stomach receives the food and juices such as hydrochloric acid and pepsin help break down the food. If there was fat in the food, the liver produces bile to break the fat down. Then the remains of the food goes onto the small intestine where there are lots of nutrients and villi( finger-like projections) absorb these nutrients. The waste then travels to the large intestine and excess water is absorbed. The waste is then disposed.
