The gradient of the line passing through two points can be defined by the formula:

#m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)#

Were #m# is the gradient of the line.
Therefore, let the point #(3,1)# = #(x_1,y_1)#
and let the point #(9,4)# = #(x_2,y_2)#

Substituting in the two points and their values we get:

#m=(4-1)/(9-3)#
Simplifying this, we get:

#m=(3)/(6)#
#m=(1)/(2)#

Therefore the slope of the line is #1/2#.
