Where m is the gradient (slope)

#=> y=1/2x+c#

But we are told that this line passes through the point
#(x,y)->(-1,-2)# so we can substitute these values to find the value of c

#=>-2=1/2(-1)+c#

#=>-2=-1/2+c#

Add #1/2# to both sides

#=>-2+1/2 = -1/2+1/2 +c#
