An eclipse is simply the positioning of the moon relative to the earth and sun. All planets with moons experience eclipses. The tides are the result of the moon's gravity.

Explanation:

The gravity of the moon and earth interact with each other. The earth's gravity keeping the moon in its orbit although the moon is very slowly increasing its distance from the earth because of its mass.

The moon's gravity pulls at the surface of the earth and causes a bulge at the perpendicular. It is this "pulling" of the moon's gravity which causes the tides.
