#(8x^2+1)+(3x^2-2)#

To simplify it we need to first get rid of the brackets.

#8x^2+1+3x^2-2#

Because the sign between two brackets is + therefore the sign in the second bracket (minus-) stays the same.

Then we add #8x^2# and #3x^2# together because they both have #x^2# in common and #1# and #-2# because they are ordinary numbers.

#8x^2+3x^2+1-2=#
#=11x^2-1#
