Body is regulated with two controls. Nervous and endocrinal.

Nervous control is quick. Endocrine control is slow but sustained. We may elaborate the answer with example. Thyroxine is secreted in thyroid. It is called as stress hormone. When body is exposed with cold, thyroxine increases rate of metabosim. This increases release of heat. So that you can resist cold.
