Helicobactir pylori causes chronic gastritis and in very small number of infected people may cause ulcer.

The bacteria is flagellated and flagella helps the organism to anchor itself on mucus. Bacteria may enter epithelial cells of lining and produce toxic chemicals to lower pH.
