The maximum resistance is when the two resistances are in series, and the minimum when they are in parallel

#R_1+R_2 = 5 Omega#

#(R_1R_2)/(R_1+R_2) = 1.2Omega#

Solve the system and find:

#R_1 = 2Omega#
#R_1 = 3Omega#

The maximun resistance is with both in series

#r_1+r_2= 5#

and the minimum is when in parallel

#1/r_1+1/r_2=1/1.2# so
