Cholecystitis occurs when the gall bladder becomes inflamed.

Explanation:

Gall bladder inflammations can be caused by :
1) Gall stones
Hard particles develop in the gall bladder due to imbalances in the substances in the bile , such as cholesterol and bile salts. These gall stones can block the cystic duct resulting in accumulation of bile and inflammation of gall bladder.

2) Tumor
A Tumor may prevent bile from draining out of the gall bladder , causing bile build up that can lead to cholecystitis.

3) Bile duct blockage.
Kinking or scarring of bile ducts can cause blockages that lead to cholecystitis,.
