Explanation:
Neutralisation is a chemical reaction where an acidic and a basic solution react, resulting in a "reset" of their pH - thus forming a salt, and water.
There are two types of acids and bases: strong and weak. A strong acid must react with a strong base in order to neutralise. Likewise a weak acid must react with a weak base.
E.g.
#HCl + NaOH -> NaCl + H_"2"O#
Here,
Most acids are weak, while most bases are strong. I will not go in depth of each because it is irrelevant to neutralisation, but essentially, it is the same process.
