#"Iodic acid........."#

Explanation:

#"Iodic acid"# has formula #HIO_3#, and iodine here has a formal #+V# oxidation state. Its salts are known as #"iodates."#

Iodic acid, or hydrogen iodate.

Explanation:

The halogens have a lot of different oxidation states. Chlorine is the worst. The most common is called -ate, the one with one O less is called -ite (same goes for sulfate-sulfite nitrate-nitrite).

Since the halogens also form halides, the series goes (I take chlorine as an example):

#Cl^-# =chloride
#ClO^-# =hypochlorite (hypo means under)
#ClO_2^-# =chlorite
#ClO_3^-# =chlorate
#ClO_4^-# = (su)perchlorate (super means above)

Most of these also have an iodine version.
All of these are oxidators, they themselves being reduced to elemental form or even to the -ide form.
