During the Truman presidency the opposition with the Soviet Union started in 1947 when it equiped itself with the Atomic Bomb. Then all Eastern European countries(except Greece) were being threatened and eventually enslaved by communism. The purpose of the Truman doctrine was to prevent that "domino effect".
