The dermis is a layer of skin between the epidermis and subcutaneous tissues.

Explanation:

The dermis makes up about 90% of the thickness of skin.

The main function of dermis is to regulate temperature and provide blood supply. Temperature regulation occurs due to an extensive network of blood vessels in this layer.

The dermis contains :
- Nerve endings that transmit various stimuli such as pain, itch, pressure and temperature.
- Lymphatic vessels that transport immune system cells.

Hair follicles, sweat glands, sebaceous glands, collagen and elastin are also found in the dermis.
