Endotherms are animals generate more heat to keep body temperature constant irrespective of external temperature.

Explanation:

Exdotherms do not control body temperature. Their body temperature varies as per external temperature.

On the other hand birds and mammals keep body temperature constant.

This is possible due to higher metabolic rate.

Endotherms need more food to burn. Rat needs food equivalent to its body weight every day. Eighty percent of the food is consumed for generating heat.
