x = 2 +-sqrt7

Explanation:

x^2 - 4 x = 3

use completing a square or quadraric formulae to soive.
by using completing a square,
(x -2)^2 - (-2)^2 =3
(x - 2)^2 = 3 +4 = 7
(x - 2) = +-sqrt7
x = 2 +-sqrt7

therefore it factor is
(x - (2+sqrt7))(x - (2-sqrt7))=0
