Why do we fill automobile tyres with compressed air, rather than compressed nitrogen?

If you mean regular motors, I presume simply because it is convenient.

Explanation:

I know that racing cars used compressed nitrogen to fill their tires. Apparently, and my knowledge comes from the interwebz, the bottled gas is easier to dry than (potentially wet) compressed air. If mass was an issue, and presumably some rev-head has already tried this, you might think that they would fill the tire with helium, which has 1/7 the mass of the dinitrogen molecule. This is what some elite cyclists use.
