Explanation:

The typical binary molecule is dioxygen or dinitrogen, and of course this constitutes the air we breathe. Most elemental gases are bimolecular.......certainly the reactive gases are.

On the other hand, the bimolecule, #Li_2# certainly exists. It is not something you could put in a bottle, but it is something you could observe spectroscopically.
