Claustrophobia is an irrational fear (phobia) of being in small, confined spaces.
Explanation:
These spaces might include (but are not limited to) elevators, public toilets, crowded rooms, MRI scanning machines, etc. Being in such situations causes them to feel anxious and, in severe cases, can cause a panic attack.
Claustrophobia is classified under Anxiety Disorders and may develop in persons who have either had a traumatic experience being confined in a small space or if a parent also suffers from claustrophobia.
