Explanation:

The ability of the sun to attract objects is directly related to its mass and forward motion (orbital). The heavier objects during the creation of the solar system moved inwards towards the sun and collected into what we now know as the four rocky planets. The light elements, hydrogen mainly, but certain other light compounds, ammonia, nitrogen, and methane primarily, were not so greatly affected by the sun's gravity and clustered where you find them today in the Jovian planets.
