B will be decreasing at a faster rate.

Explanation:

The slope for A is -1/2. The slope for B is - 2/1

- 2/1 < -1/2 so the slope of -2/1 will be steeper and decrease faster.

To determine the slope for A

"slope" = (y_1 - y _2)/ ( x_1 - x_2)

"slope A" = ( 0-2)/(4-0) = -2/4 = -1/2

To determine the slope for B

"slope B" = { -9 - (-5)}/ (8-6) = (-4)/2 = -2/1

Function B

Explanation:

First you have understand what slope means. Slope means gradient therefore you find the gradient of both functions and compare them.

Function A:

(4,0) (0,2)

(2-0)/(0-4) = -1/2

m = -1/2

Function B:

Just pick any two coordinates to find the gradient.

(0,7) (2,3)

(3-7)/(2-0) = -2

-2 is smaller than -1/2 therefore function B is decreasing at a greater rate.

This can also be done by plotting both functions but you can do that as a check your answer thing.
