In many cases, it destroys or severly weakens it.

Explanation:

Eczema is a common condition in which one's skin becomes itchy, red, and inflamed. I actually had this condition.

From my experiences, I can tell you that the skin in the area is generally very red and is often itched off entirely. I experienced some bleeding often, and this is often the case with ezcema.

In the end, eczema results in the epidermis being severely destroyed in affected areas. It is not a pleasant condition, I can tell you that.
