The name of the show is italicized or boldfaced.

Explanation:

If you're using an old-fashioned typewriter, you can also underline it. The title of the individual episode is put inside quotation marks. Punctuation for all titles applies, as all important words in the title (including the first and last, always) get capitalized.

In arts and literature, the title of a major work (novel, film, TV series, opera, or painting) is boldfaced or italicized. A lesser work (short story, TV episode, or a single song or instrumental piece) is put in quotation marks.

The TV show and episode that introduced us to Captain Picard is Star Trek: The Next Generation , Season 1 Episode 1: "Encounter at Farpoint."
