Let's see.

Explanation:

Nitrogen is the first element of group-15 element of p-block.

The electronic configuration of nitrogen #(N)# is:

#N_7rarr1s^(2)2s^(2)2p^(3)#

Hence, the nitrogen atom is devoid of any sort of #d# orbital.

Therefore, it can not extend it's octet & hence can not accept #5# more electrons from the #5# chlorine atoms in whatever energy state it is.

Thus, #N# can not form #NCl_5# compound.

For info, #N# can form a stable #NCl_3# compound to complete it's octet.
