There are many ways to release dopamine, such as exercise, laughing, etc. Some people get that same release from playing video games.

Those games are designed to do things like have big explosions, or having the 'bad guy' die, or have a big car wreck or things like that. Of course not everyone likes that kind of action, so there are different kinds of video games. But they are all designed to trigger dopamine release in the players, thereby giving the player a sensation of pleasure and making them to want to continue to play.
