Electricity is basically the movement of electrons through a substance, and so electrons carry electrical energy. Non-moving electrons carry just simple potential energy and have an electrical charge of #-1#, but moving electrons also contain the same electrical charge of #-1#. Because they are moving however, they are able to transfer the electrical energy, and also kinetic energy, as they are moving.
