There are 26 red cards, and 26 black cards. the ratio is

# 26/52 = 1/2#

I tried this:

I would take the number of possible outcomes: #52#
the number of favourable outcomes: Hearts+Diamonds#=13+13=26#

so the probability will be:

#p("red")=26/52=0.5# or #50%# as we could guess immediatelly.
