Inorganic chemistry is the chemistry of "the rest" (e.g. metals, minerals like salts/silicates, radioactive compounds, etc.). This is often what students will learn first, as it provides a foundation that is necessary to grasp other areas of chemistry.

Organic chemistry is the chemistry of carbon compounds.

Biological chemistry is the chemistry of life.
