Cosmologists in their day to day jobs investigate and solve problems looking into various aspects of models of the Universe.

Explanation:

Cosmology is the field of physics that attempts to describe our universe on the largest scales both in time and space. How did the universe begin, where is it going, why does it look like it does, and why do things behave as they do. A few of the most famous concepts from cosmology are the Big Bang, Dark Energy and Dark Matter.

Any individual Cosmologist in their day to day job would be looking into some aspect of these models of the Universe. There are many options, from working with the individual theories, like General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics, to taking measurements of far away objects like galaxies or quasars, to fit the data to particular models.
