If #|x^2-4x+3|=x+1#, we have #x>=-1# as #|x^2-4x+3|>=0#. This gives us the domain of #x#.

Now we have two possibilities

#x^2-4x+3=x+1# or #x^2-5x+2=0# i.e.

#x=(5+-sqrt(5^2-8))/2=(5+-sqrt17)/2#

Observe that both are in domain.
