we have

(b).........`-5x+3y=5`

Now, multiplying (a) by 3 and(b) by 4 we get

(a).......`6x+12y=24` and
(b).......`-20x+12y=20`
now, subtracting (a)-(b) we get,
`=>26x=4; =>x=2/13`
putting `x=2/13` in (a) we get
`2*(2/13)+4y=8`
`y=2-1/13 ;=> y=25/13`
