A chemical signal is transmitted across a synapse. The chemical signals are biomolecules called neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are secreted into the synapse from vesicles in the the axon terminal, where they then attach to receptors in the dendrites or cell body on the next neuron, stimulating that neuron. Neurotransmitters include serotonin, norepinephrine, endorphins, and acetylcholine, among many others.,+using+examples,+the+effects+of+neurotransmission+on+human+behavior.
