2. When the elevator is rising with an acceleration $a = g$:
Scale will show that weight $W = m \left(g + g\right) = 2 m g$.
3. When the elevator is moving down with an acceleration $a = - g$:
Scale will show that weight $W = m \left(g - g\right) = 0$.
