Explanation:

Every time a satellite is launched it is put into a predetermined orbit. When the launch happens a series of radar stations around the world track its progress into its orbit and the data is sent to Cheyenne Mountain, CO. On a regular basis various radar stations track the satellites in orbit and pass the data on to Cheyenne.
