Balanced equation of the redox reaction

$M n {O}_{2} + 4 H C l \to M n C {l}_{2} + C {l}_{2} + 2 {H}_{2} O$

This equation reveals that 4mol $H C l$ produces 1mol $C {l}_{2}$

We have been given 400 mL or 0.4L of 0.1 M HCl which contains $0.4 \times 0.1 m o l = 0.04 m o l$ $H C l$

Hence the amount of $C {l}_{2}$ produced $\frac{1}{4} \times 0.04 = 0.1 m o l = 0.71 g \text{ }$as the molar mass of $C {l}_{2} = 71 g \text{/} m o l$

The density of $C {l}_{2} = 2.84 g \text{/} L$

So its volume will be $\frac{0.71}{2.84} L = 0.25 L$
