Initially the water turns into milky white and called milk of lime. The supernatant solution will be almost clear, colorless and transparent.


The solubility of Calcium hydroxide is approx. 1.5 - 2 .0 gm/litre in almost neutral or fresh water at ambient temperature [ 20- 25 Degree C]. The supernatant clear solution after settling down the undissolved calcium hydroxide, having pH approx. 12.0-12.5.
