As humans produce more greenhouse gases, these gases trap more energy (in the form of heat) in the atmosphere, which causes the planet to warm.
Explanation:
The earth's atmosphere traps some heat inside it naturally while letting some heat escape.
As humans burn fossil fuels, we are emitting more greenhouse gases, such as CO2, into the atmosphere. These gases trap heat inside the atmosphere, or more specifically, they allow heat to leave at a much slower rate. Thus, we see increased annual temperatures on average across the globe.
