Does using a sauna damage the male reproductive system?
Sauna bath may have harmful effect on sperm production in males.
Human testicles are located outside abdominal cavity, hanging within scrotal sac. Here they enjoy a lower temperature (2 degree C less than body temperature) which is essential for normal spermatogenesis.
Taking sauna bath experience means exposing the testicles to temperature above 60 to 70 degree C (they must be retained at 35 degree C). Sperm count declines when sauna bath is taken regularly.
