Alkanes are hydrocarbons where all the carbon atoms are held together by single covalent bonds. In Alkynes, there will be at least one triple bond between carbon atoms.
Here is a video which discusses the alkanes and alkynes. It also includes a brief discussion of alkenes, hydrocarbons which contain a double bond.
