How do energy and nutrients move through an ecosystem?

1 Answer

From producers to last cosumers.

Explanation:

  1. The energy and mineral nutrients move from the green plants i.e., producers to the consumers. It is mediated by the foodchain and food web.
  2. The light energy is trapped by the green plants fron the process of photosynthesis. Here, light energy is converted into chemical energy. Gradually, the chemical energy is tranferred to the consumers through foodchain and foodweb.
  3. The mineral nutrients are absorbed by the plants from their root hairs. The minerals are transferred to the consuners.
  4. At each trophic level, the stored energy is decreased (10% law). Microbes decompose the dead organisms and minerals again returned to soil.
